You will hear SPC which means stone plastic composite. What that means is the core of the plank is limestone/ceramic type core.
You will also hear rigid core which is basically the same just more resin than stone.
These products are basically dent proof. The next term you will hear is wear layer.
Wear layer is very important, because that's the part you actually walk on.
12 mil wear layer is fine for residential and light commercial. 20 mil wear layer is even better and recommended for heavy commercial .
There are cheaper products that are 6-8 mil wear layer or less these products will scratch easier, but you still have water proof product.
